Abstract

According to Francis Bacon, human mind reveals delusions and anxieties through metaphors of cult figures created. The metaphor of cult of figures revealed by Francis Bacon for the sake of establishment of theoretical infrastructure of Contemporary Empiricism indicates that the mind of the mankind can only achieve success attained in scientific method by learning to prevail in supernatural by acting as an iconoclast. In the metaphor of cult figures, an illusion is referred that subrogates the reality by creating a simulation perception. In the perception of simulation, simulations subrogate the reality perceptibly along with the technological advancements the present time. Changes have been reported in the perception of reality of the mankind together with the technological advancements from modernity to postmodern era. These changes are revealed through the Simulation and Hyperreality by Jean Baudrillard. In this context; reflections on the reality on the works sampled are construed in this research by performing relational analysis of Francis Bacon’s approach of metaphor of cult of figures and Baudrillard’s Simulation Theory and the works of Jenny Holzer and Cindy Sherman by the illusion where the reality of metaphoric discourses is challenged by the delusions formed in mind.
