A Study in the Context of Self Criticism Regarding the Reliability Issues of Running News and Press in Turkey

Türkiye’de Haberlerin Güvenilirlik Sorunu ve Basın Çalışanlarına İlişkin Özeleştiri Bağlamında Bir Araştırma1
Haber alma özgürlüğünün temel sorunu sayılabilecek güvenilirlik, gazetecilik mesleğine ilişkin güncelliğini yitirmeyen bir eleştiri konusudur. Habere duyulan ihtiyaç azalmasa da gazetecilik mesleğinin prestij kaybı yapılan sayısız araştırmanın ortak sonucudur. Haberin üretildiği kurumların siyasal iktidar, reklamveren ve patron üçgeninde menfaat odaklı yayın politikası güven sorununu yaratan yegane tutumdur. Bu minvalde sadece Türkiye’de değil, dünya çapında üretilen haberlerin uydurma, yalan ya da çarpıtılmış olması okuyucunun/izleyicinin daha çok dikkatini çeken bir durum haline gelmiştir. Ancak tablonun, genel sıralamada Türkiye’nin medyasına en az güvenen ülke olduğu gerçeğini işaret etmesi, basın çalışanlarının bu ortamı nasıl değerlendirdiği sorusunu da akıllara getirmektedir. Bu çalışmada basın çalışanlarına yönelik belli başlı alan araştırmalarının sonuçları ve bu sonuçların ortak paydası ışığında kanıksanan basın ortamının özeleştirisi, 61 basın çalışanının katıldığı bir anketle ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Böylece, bir yandan Türkiye’deki basın ortamı gazetecilerin gözünden yansıtılmaya çalışılırken, diğer yandan da gazetecilik mesleğine ve medyaya ilişkin güvenilirlik olgusu, bu alanda yapılmış güncel araştırma sonuçları ve basın alanında yaşanan dönüşümler ışığında irdelenmeye çalışılmıştır.

Abstract
The reliability that can be regarded as the fundamental problem of freedom of getting news is a current matter of criticism on the profession of journalism. Altough, the need for the news is not reduced, the loss of the prestige of the journalism profession is the common result of the countless studies done on it. The policy based publication policy of the institutions where the news is produced in the political power, advertiser and boss triangle is the only attitude that reflects the problem of reliance. In this manner, not only in Turkey, but also in the whole world, the fabricated produced news wheather it is lie, canard or distorted has always been a phenomenon taking the more attention of the readers/viewers. However, the general ranking tables pointing out Turkey’s being the least confident country to it’s media brings out the question of how the press employees evaluate this environment. In this study, the results of the major field studies for the press and the self criticism of the media environment which are recognised in the light of the common stake of these results have been revealed by a survey done with 61 press employees. So, while on one hand the press environment in Turkey was being reflected through the thoughts/eyes of the journalists, on the other hand, the reliability of cases related to the profession of journalism and the media and also the current study results have been studied in the light of the changes on press field.
