İhap Hulusi Görey’in Banka Afişlerinde Metafor ve Alegorik Anlatım
Araştırma, Görey’in tasarımlarının sadece estetik birer ürün değil, aynı zamanda Cumhuriyet’in ekonomik ve kültürel vizyonunun görsel temsilleri olduğunu göstermiştir.

Abstract
Metaphor and Allegorical Expression in Ihap Hulusi Gorey’s Bank Posters
The purpose of this research is to examine the metaphorical and allegorical narratives in the bank posters of the Republic period by İhap Hulusi Görey, the first professional graphic designer of Turkey. In addition, it is to reveal the creative narrative power of the artist in visual communication and how he conveys social messages with visual elements. In the research, a total of four poster designs prepared by Görey for Ziraat Bankası, Yapı Kredi Bankası, İş Bankası and Sümerbank were examined based on the information obtained through the literature review method. Document analysis, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the research. Visual elements such as hat, suit, bird, nest, piggy bank, modern house, villager, 1 lira in the posters were examined with a metaphorical and allegorical approach and the message intended to be given was interpreted by considering the poster as a whole. In particular, the figure smoking a pipe was analyzed as a metaphorical reflection of the financial comfort and sense of security brought by saving money. The stork was interpreted as a metaphor for the dream of individuals or families to own a new home. The presentation of the 1 lira coin as a "pie slice" visually conveys that a portion of the earnings should be directed to investment. The figure of the peasant (farmer) is symbolized not only as an individual saver but also as a fundamental element of national production and national development. This research presents a new perspective through the works of İhap Hulusi Görey by revealing the effect of metaphor and allegory in graphic design and visual communication. The research has shown that Görey's designs are not only aesthetic products, but also visual representations of the economic and cultural vision of the Republic.
