Öz

Kabuki tiyatrosu, geleneksel Japon tiyatrosunun alt türlerinden biridir ve 17. yüzyılda ortaya çıkmıştır. Abartılı makyaj kullanımı Kabuki tiyatrosunun temel özellikleri arasında yer almaktadır. Oyunların dramatik yapısına katkı sağlayan makyajlar sahnedeki karakterlerin iyi ya da kötü olduklarına dair özellikleri konusunda belirleyici olmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, geleneksel Japon Kabuki tiyatrosundaki maske makyajının modern gösterilere yansımasını ele almaktır. Çalışmada geleneksel Japon halk tiyatrosu, Kumadori, Japon tiyatrosu-modern tiyatro etkileşimleri ele alınmıştır. Geçmişten günümüze popülerliğini koruyarak ulaşmış olan Kabuki’nin modern sanatları önemli ölçüde etkilediği ortaya konulmuştur.

Abstract

The Reflection of Mask Makeup in Traditional Japanese Kabuki Theater to Modern Performances

Kabuki theater is a subgenre of traditional Japanese theater and originated in the 17th century. The use of exaggerated make-up is among the main features of Kabuki theatre. Make-ups that contribute to the dramatic structure of the plays are decisive in terms of the good or bad qualities of the characters on the stage. The aim of this study is to discuss the reflection of mask make-up in traditional Japanese Kabuki theater on modern performances. In the study, traditional Japanese folk theatre, Kumadori, Japanese theater-modern theater interactions are discussed. It has been revealed that Kabuki, which has remained popular from the past to the present, has significantly influenced modern arts.
