1715021833 THE CONCEPT OF COLLOCATION IN ARABIC AND FEATURES OF ARABIC COLLOCATION

Collocation is the relationship between two or more words. These words are often used together and are derived from at least one element of the collocational phrase. This concept, found in all languages, has different features. Arabic is one of the richest languages in terms of collocations among the world's languages. It is thought that there is progress in the use of the concept of collocation in Arabic. Collocation is the most important tool in explaining lexical meaning. It is a type of word formations that are not based on grammar, other than known linguistic rules. Classical Arab writers made some evaluations that point to the current meaning of collocation, even though it was not called collocation at that time. According to al-Curjani, a lexical item should be used only within a series of meaningful relationships according to certain linguistic and non-linguistic criteria. al-Cahiz states that collocation emerges as one of the meanings of a lexical item. This accords with Firth's collocational expressions
