When the bond between art and society is examined, it is seen that the desire of the artists to express themselves spiritually caused the emergence of Expressionism. When looking at the resulting works, the meaning that Expressionist artists attribute to body image; It can be described as an indicator of the depression society. In the research, it has been observed that the artists who produce works with an expressionist understanding in Western and Turkish art express their reflections in their inner worlds and interpret the linear deformation, colors and forms in their figures, away from the image of nature, re-evaluating the concept of beauty, and interpreting them according to their own inner world exaggerated with a non-academic approach. In this study, the works of Edward Munch, Egon Schiele, James Ensor, Oscar Kokoschka, Otto Dix from Western painting and Mehmet Güleryüz, Mahir Güven, Nedim Günsur, Neşet Günal, Neş'e Erdok from Turkish painting were chosen as samples.
