The painter Ahmet Yakupoğlu (1920-2016), as one of the famous painters of Kütahya, did not only paint, but also continued his artist personality as an illuminator and a ney player, by giving works in miniature art. It is possible to see the traces of this versatile personality in the works he has made since his youth. One of the proofs that he is a versatile artist is the illustrations he made for selected poems of Turkish Literature. However, it has not been determined that these illustrations have been the subject of any research until today. From this point of view, to examine and analyze Ahmet Yakupoğlu’s book called “Poems”, in which the selected poems of Turkish literature are described with the illustration technique, constitute the purpose of this research. Document analysis, one of the qualitative methods, was used in the research. In this context, Yakupoğlu’s notebook called “Poems” was scanned with a hand scanner, both the expressions in the verses of the poems and the illustrations were analyzed by comparing, and the technique and style used in the illustration were analyzed according to the method of criticism. In the conceptual framework of the research, what the illustration is and the types of illustration were mentioned, and in the findings and interpretation section, the analysis of 29 illustrations for the visualization of poems was included. According to the findings of the study, Ahmet Yakupoğlu, who used the surname “Çalışel” until 1964, donated his paintings, his library, his house, which was transformed into a living museum, to Kütahya Dumlupınar University, and it was seen that the notebook was among these donated works. In the examination, it was understood that Yakupoğlu used the surname Çalışel as his signature under the illustrations in his book called “Poems”. Another finding is that this notebook has never been exhibited or seen anywhere until today. In addition, the inner world of an artist reflected the content of the poems he chose and the descriptions he made for these poems. It is understood that the notebook, which can also be examined as a graphic design product, is unique and meaningful in terms of typographic layout and page design. Yakupoğlu, known as a nature, city streets and landscape painter, maintains this feature with his illusions in his book “Poems”, although it is seen that he also includes figures and describes the text content with a romantic approach, considering both the color and the concept of space. It has been understood that the traces of the artist personality of Ahmet Yakupoğlu, who is one of the known and constantly remembered painters of the age and today, that is, his colorful and enthusiastic state in his paintings, left its place to emotionalism in the illustrations in his book “Poems”.
