1503763149 THE USE OF UNIVERSALITY AND ACCESSIBILITY IN GRAPHIC DESIGN STUDIES

Universal design; it means any product or service is designed containing features can be used by anyone. Accessibility means that any product or service is equally accessible and usable by everyone including the disabled, the elderly and children. If a design is accessible, it may have taken a major step towards universality, but every accessible design is not always universal. A universal design is obtained through being accessible.In the study, universal graphic design and accessible graphic designs has been tried to explain through examples. It has been made an analyze that to what extent the accessibility and universality served by data transmission systems such as Data Matrix (QR), Near Field Communication (NFC), and Augmented Reality (AR), which are used in some graphic designs today. The design samples creating resource for the study consist of printed promotional materials published in both domestic and abroad. It has been tried to analyze and evaluate whether these selected designs are usable to everyone. As a result of the made analyzes, it has been determined that the technology of the data matrix code is generally used. NFC connection technology has been seen to be used more frequently in the payment systems instead of visual design in Turkey. It has been come to the conclusion that Augmented Reality Technology is generally preferred for publicity to serve three dimensional visual presentation purpose.
