Art, which is considered as one of the basic facts of existence, is located in a space from the moment it starts to be produced. Therefore, the production of art and space continue to exist in relation to each other. Art production; In the historical process, from a classical understanding that creates the illusion of space on a two-dimensional surface and emphasizes handcraftsmanship, it gradually emerges with an understanding that approaches the surface, remains on the surface and then overflows from the surface and finds expression in real space. In this direction, formations such as installation, performance and land art offer artists new possibilities of expression. With the adoption of different conceptions of art, forms of exhibition also show a simultaneous development. Galleries and museums, with their conventional forms, have been transformed from places where artworks are exhibited to places where the artwork itself becomes the work of art, or as a result of artists turning to alternative spaces while realizing their art production. In order to question the changing nature of the relationship between artwork, audience and space in the most accurate way, the ideas put forward by thinkers on the concept of space have an important place. The aim of the study is to examine the development of the relationship between space and art in the historical process through the theorists' multifaceted questioning of space, exemplified by contemporary works.
