1691249278 ALGERIA'S ANTI-MOROCOAN POLICY OF WESTERN SAHARA IN THE CONTEXT OF CLASSICAL REALIST THEORY

The Western Sahara issue, which is seen as a "frozen or forgotten" conflict in international relations, has not made any serious progress in resolving the issue for 45 years. Although there has been a referendum negotiation process carried out under the supervision of the UN since 1991, the attitude of the Moroccan side to protect its interests plays a major role in failure of the negotiations. Western Sahara region, which gives Morocco a great advantage in terms of being a regional power, is also a serious issue for Algeria and this situation has caused a power struggle between the two neighboring states. In this sense, in terms of realist theory, Western Sahara policies of Algeria against Morocco will be discussed in this study. In this respect, first a theoretical framework and then a basis for the case will be formed, and then the study will be concluded by creating a bridge between the theory and the case.
